The HERO.INE collection consists of seven vases with a unique cut in five sizes and several colours. The shape of the vases corresponds to the different needs of floral arrangements. Each of the seven vases refers in its character and name to world and Czech heroines, strong women who inspire Kateřina in her work and life, such as EMA Destinová, LATA Brandisová, Vivienne Westwood or COCO Chanel.
The HERO.INE collection is a confident demonstration of the possibilities of working with traditional cut crystal in a modern way, but with reference to its historical heritage. The collection reflects her interest in exploring her own visual language within the Rückl brand, where she builds on previous collections, as well as in cut glass technique and technology, which has remained virtually unchanged over the last few centuries. She focuses on haptics, the contrasts between fine detail and brutal oversized cut, matte and polished surfaces and the fragility and strength of glass.
The design of vases from the HERO.INE collection is based on contrasts between light and dark, masculinity and femininity, solidity and delicacy of hand-cut. The dominant element of the collection of hand-blown vases is the distinctive deep cut, which takes master cutters several hours to process.
When I think about romantic love and all its forms, about the ambivalent feeling that brings joy and tears, she remembers above all the unconditional love, as I remembers it from childhood, and the complexity of relationships masterfully captured by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in The Little Prince. He tells about a rose that teaches him love. The story of the little prince is an immortal allegory about the fact that to desire often means to suffer a little at the same time.
As part of the limited edition of the Heroine collection, Rückl presents two pink hand-cut vases – Roses and Thorns. Both are decorated with hand-cut cuts that symbolically represent the two inseparable sides of the imaginary coin of love. On one side, a tender, warm feeling that inspires hope and strength. On the other, a burning desire that does not let up. One cannot exist without the other.
